Granny Smith

The tree grows strong end erect and is difficult to train. It yields crops regularly. It is prone to dead-eye formation. Therefore; it should not grow strong stools and dead-eye formation should be prevented by cutting the ends of branches. Its fruits are good-sized and round and have a green, oily rind. They are watery; brittle; of high eating quality; slightly acidic; slightly pungent and has a good, specific aroma. Convenient harvest time is 180-185 days after full blooming. When M9 is grafted on it; it must be covered by a net as it is affected by sunlight. Sunburn effect may be reduced by applying high density plantation on seedlings grafted on MM106 rootstock. It is self-compatible. However; using pollinators such as Golden Reinders or Gala may improve yield. It is medium-vulnerable to blackspot bruising (venturie inaequalis).
